David Ashby, our Head of Operations was successfully appointed as a Professional Member of the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) in March! It’s a great accolade and we’d like to congratulate him publicly on his achievement.

As his appointment coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, he’s been unable to undertake his induction training. But this will happen as soon as possible once government guidelines allow.

The First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) handle applications, appeals and references relating to disputes over property and land, including leasehold disputes. Once up and running, David will be able to feedback any insight he gains with our Members. This will prove helpful in developing an understanding of the process.

It’s a brilliant achievement – congratulations David. He’s written some words for our network on the process below –

I have been appointed as a Professional Member of the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) Residential Property. It’s a nice catchy title isn’t it?

I applied for the role in July 2019 and following the evaluation of the shortlisting criteria I completed online tests on 8 August 2019. References were taken up and I attended an interview on 6 November 2019. Further checks were carried out and I was appointed on 3 March 2020. Before I can sit I have to complete face-to-face training and attend Tribunals as part of the training. This has coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic so I have been unable to complete this training but this will happen as soon the Judicial Office can put these on.
