The South East Consortium (SEC) was established in response to government demands which state Local Authorities and registered social landlords (RSLs) can achieve significant reductions by adopting good practice in the procurement of goods and services. In October 2004 the ODPM announced funds to setup Local Procurement Consortia to boost buying power.  The SEC was awarded a grant by the CLG in late 2006.  The consortium is set up as a "contractual body" managed by a board of nominated individuals from each member organisation. A Core Group, who has operational responsibility, consists of AmicusHorizon Group, Hexagon Housing, mhs homes group, Shepway District Council and West Kent Housing Association.

• There are currently 13 members of the SEC.
• The SEC is a procurement consortium covering over 70,000 properties across the South East of England.
• The AmicusHorizon Group are the lead "accountable body" for the SEC.
• Core Group members are elected by the SEC Board annually
